Development Assessment of Premature Infants with Risk Factors using the Bayley Scale

Premature Infant

Since early 2023, the Psychology Department of the Special Hospital for Cerebral Palsy and Developmental Neurology has been using the third edition of Bayley Scales of Infant and Toddler Development to assess prematurely born children with multiple risk factors. The Bayley scale is the most commonly used tool for psychodiagnostics of early development. It can be implemented on newborns in the first months of life, that is from the earliest corrected age of prematurely born children. This tool allows for the early detection of developmental deviations in motor, cognitive, speech–language, and social–emotional functions in infants and young children up to 3.5 years of age. It also provides insight into the child’s development and effects of applied stimulation treatments at our facility.
