About Us
History
The Special Hospital for Cerebral Palsy and Developmental Neurology (SBCPRN) was established on October 10, 1958 as the Center for Cerebral Palsy operating within the Institute for Mother and Child Health Care of Serbia Dr Vukan Čupić. In 1960, with the completion of the building located at Braće Jerković 5, it became an independent healthcare institution, now functioning as the Day Hospital and the Department for Pre–Professional Orientation and Training (Pavilion II). Since its inception, the institution has been dedicated to habilitating children with cerebral palsy, and when the facility located at Sokobanjska 17a, now known as Pavilion I, opened in October 1972, early detection and diagnosis of cerebral palsy and neurodevelopmental conditions also became a point of focus.
In January 1969, the Center developed into the Institute for Cerebral Palsy functioning within the Institute for Rehabilitation. In August 1989, the Institute separated from the Institute of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and began functioning as an independent organization. On October 14, 1997, it evolved into the Special Hospital for Cerebral Palsy and Developmental Neurology.
Mission and Vision
Our Hospital specializes in the diagnosis and prevention of early psychomotor developmental disorders and in providing comprehensive treatments aimed at mitigating the consequences of cerebral palsy and related neurodevelopmental diagnoses.
The operating principles of our institution are:

- The patients are the central focus of all activities conducted at the Hospital, and our staff is focused on the quality and safety of provided services;
- Respect for the principles of good clinical practice.
The values we strive to achieve are:
- Providing services with empathy. Together with patients and their family members, we create an environment that is caring and family–oriented;
- Commitment to ethical practice;
- Embracing change and openness for new initiatives and ideas.
We work as a team and value teamwork. We work together and communicate with mutual respect.
The strength of our institution lies in its 60–year tradition, high satisfaction rate among staff and patients, and highly qualified personnel trained in the most advanced neurofacilitation and neurostimulation techniques. We aim to maintain a leading position among regional institutions which specialize in neurorehabilitation and to increase recognition of the general social significance that our Hospital’s activities generate. Our vision is to keep up with the most modern global trends regarding the use of assistive technologies in neurorehabilitation. Our first goal is the acquisition of a Lokomat — a robotic device for assisted gait training. In our efforts to achieve this goal, we expect your support!
