Center for Fragile X Syndrome
The Hospital is internationally recognized as a central institution in Southeastern Europe for the early detection, diagnosis and treatment of persons with Fragile X associated disorders (primarily Fragile X syndrome). A Fragile X Center has been established within the institution and has been recognized by the American National Fragile X Foundation. The Center for Fragile X is equipped with all of the resources needed to provide modern care for persons with Fragile X and their families.
This is a place where you can receive the most up–to–date recommendations regarding Fragile X. The approach is multidisciplinary, with a team of medical professionals from various fields (Pediatricians, Physiatrists, Pediatric Neurologists, Pediatric Psychiatrists, Geneticists, Clinical Psychologists, Special Educators, Speech Therapists, Social Workers, etc.). Everyone diagnosed or suspected of having Fragile X undergoes a team evaluation. The team is led by professor Dragana Protić, DMSc, a Clinical Pharmacology Specialist who has been internationally recognized as an expert in the field of Fragile X, with impressive scientific and professional publications and references from this field. She is also a member of the international Fragile X Clinical & Research Consortium. In addition to families from Serbia, the Fragile X team is also available to families and patients from the entire region and Europe.
